Caserío Pikamendi, a traditional Basque farmhouse, is located among the green hills that surround the small fishing town of Getaria, home to the explorer Juan Sebastián Elkano and haute-couture fashion designer Cristóbal Balenciaga. Built out of stone and wood over 250 years ago, the Caserío is set on 8 hectares (20 acres) of land and is enclosed by “Txakoli” vineyards, facing the Cantabrian Sea.
Throughout it’s history, the Caserío has served various purposes. It was originally built as a farmhouse but during the 1980’s the ground floor was converted into a “fois-grass” factory. In the early 90´s, the Caserío was carefully restored and turned it into the guesthouse it is today.
The Caserío’s location, 2km (1.2 miles) from Getaria, provides its guests with the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing break with breathtaking views whilst being a stone-throw away from world-class museums and a restaurants.
On 2017 San Sebastián was the city revealed as the best food destination in the world, by Caterwings.
The Caserío is reachable by car.
For guests travelling by plane, there are a number of airports a short drive away.
